Here are a few ideas for teaching English
- Use the Internet, DVD's, music videos, songs (Youtube.com for example)
- Have them find more websites
- :Let the students design more of the class
- Let them choose the music, DVD's
- Encourage them to chat with native speakers
- Have them bring in chats to learn from them
- Use this website
- Teach them more than just English. Teach them emotional/social skills which are important in relatinships. For example, listening, conflict resolution, validation, emotional literacy. Have them do research on those topics and teach the skills to the class. Then let them bring in examples from their real lives. For example, from their parents, friends and boyfriends/girlfriends.
- Get them involved in the Teens For Peace project as a way of encouraging them to use English with teens in other countries.
-
For students in institutes
- Have them design courses for other teens in public and private schools, then go in and run the classes.
- Have several students to go teach class and divide the class up into groups. .
